History

GAMIA was born at CPUT Catsville residence when Adrian Kathemba (current owner) and two friends were playing in his room challenging each other in fifa 12. Our desire to have more challengers led us to require a bigger space to fulfill this. Thus with one 22inch LCD TV we set it up in the residence function hall and hosted a small tournament comprising of 10 individuals. After the success of the 1st, popularity grew as other students from different CPUT residences came to Catsville residence for the tournaments due to a lack of entertainment elsewhere. Following the success of the Catsville tournaments more video game tournaments were set up in the other residences of CPUT and later in other university residences. thus every two months, the top 3 from each of these residences across the universities come in the new established venue for the final spectacular tournament and others get to come and purchase the latest games and classics that they desire
